OUR PHILOSOPHY
NOISE PERFECTED
INSPIRATION
The Panda Studios of today represents the evolution of Sam Pura’s lifelong musical adventure. Sam’s earliest inspiration came from looking for a way to cope with being a misfit teenager struggling to keep pace with the academic rigors of a private college prep school. To drown out the constant messages of his subpar academic performance, Sam spent hours each day learning riffs from his favorite late-90s/early 2000s alternative rock hits. He recorded demos for his own rock band, which led to notice by more prominent local rock, hardcore, and metal bands, and eventually a budding recording business based out of his childhood bedroom.
INNOVATION
Sam’s career really began to thrive after he was introduced to the history of music production during his tenure at Ex’pression College for the Digital Arts (now SAE Expression College). He was captivated by experimenting with the applications of recording techniques. This passion for recording unleashed a sense of bold innovation that still maintains palpable connections to the historical roots of music and serves as a foundational ideal for work produced at The Panda Studios.
ETHOS
At The Panda Studios, we are engrossed with taking each record to the next level. We are constantly looking for new sources of inspiration, from the latest pop singles to those obscure pieces of analog vintage gear that evoke just the right sense of nostalgia. We challenge our artists to elevate their projects, encouraging a willingness to be explorational and, at times, provocative. All of the engineers at The Panda Studios aim to make content that resonates emotionally with people of the world and positively influences others’ lives.
EXPERIENCE
We are dedicated to the creative process at The Panda Studios, and our space is set-up to offer a variety of recording experiences. We have two, independently functioning recording studios, featuring two Pro Tools / Ableton control rooms, two separate live rooms, an isolation room, and a robust collection of outboard gear and instruments. Producing an album with us means working alongside industry expert, Sam Pura, to generate compositionally aware, unparalleled sounds that stand the test of time.
